Support for physical and virtual servers

Servers rarely fail without warning. Disks report errors for weeks, backup jobs quietly stop completing, updates are deferred until something breaks at the worst possible moment. We watch for those signals and deal with them before they become an outage.

Three ways to work with us

Server monitoring

We watch your servers, disks, services and backup jobs and tell you what needs attention. Your own people do the work. Suits businesses with internal IT who want a second pair of eyes.

Managed server support

We monitor and maintain the servers ourselves: patching, updates, capacity, backup verification and documentation. Included in the Infrastructure package.

Emergency server support

Something is down now and you need an engineer today. Quoted per incident, no contract required.

What we work with

Windows Server: installation, configuration and upgrades

Linux servers and services

Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy

File and print services, shares and permissions

RAID arrays and storage health

Hyper-V and VMware hosts and virtual machines

Patch management and scheduled maintenance windows

Performance and capacity monitoring

Backup monitoring and restore testing

Migrations to newer versions or newer hardware

Disaster recovery planning

Written documentation of how everything fits together

On backups

A backup that has never been restored is an assumption, not a backup. We test restores on a schedule and keep a record of the results, so that on the day it matters you know what will come back and how long it will take.

Applications running on your server

Our monthly support covers the server itself: the operating system, updates, storage, monitoring and backups. Specialist applications running on it are covered by a separate application support line, because each one needs its own knowledge and its own time.

Simple, self-contained applications such as Nextcloud or Nextcloud start at £75 per application per month. Mail servers, databases and business systems are quoted individually — an ERP such as Odoo is £150 per month, because it needs a different kind of attention.

We will also tell you honestly which applications we support properly and which are better left with the vendor who wrote them.

Hours and response

Hours

Monday to Friday, 9am–6pm. Saturday, 10am–5pm. Work outside these hours is arranged in advance.

Response

We aim to respond to every request the same working day.

Servers are covered within our monthly support at £60 per user per month, with a minimum of £300 per month. Emergency call-outs for businesses without a contract are quoted per incident.
