Fieldy 3 is set up in a few minutes, and most problems people run into come from the same handful of steps. This short guide in plain language covers pairing, the first settings, how to wear it and what to do when something goes wrong. We use Fieldy ourselves every day.
Your conversations stay yours — there is no recording for anyone to listen to
Fieldy does not keep audio. Your phone sends it securely to Fieldy's speech recognition, it is turned into text and deleted straight away — no one can play it back, not even you. What remains is your transcript: encrypted, stored in your private Fieldy account until you delete it, and processed only by Fieldy's contracted service providers, who may not use it for anything else or to train AI. Fieldy never sells your data or uses it for advertising. You can delete any conversation or your whole account in the app at any time. Fieldy meets HIPAA requirements and uses SOC 2 certified data centres.
Recording other people? UK law requires their consent — tell them Fieldy is on.
What is in the box
The device already fitted to the pendant, a USB-C charging cable and a quick-start card with a QR code. If you ordered the watch strap, it is in the box too.
Step 1. Install the app and pair — through the app only
- Install the Fieldy app from the App Store or Google Play (or scan the QR code in the box).
- Turn Fieldy on: press and hold the logo for two seconds until the light pulses blue. If nothing lights up, charge it first.
- In the app tap "Pair Fieldy" and follow the prompts. When the light turns steady white, it is connected.
- Allow microphone access and background activity when asked — without them transcription stops when the screen is off.
The most common mistake: pairing Fieldy from the phone's Bluetooth settings. Do not do that — pair only from inside the Fieldy app.
Step 2. Two settings worth doing straight away
- Languages. Choose the languages you actually speak — Russian, Lithuanian, English and so on. Transcription becomes faster and more accurate.
- Speaker profile. Read a short text aloud so Fieldy knows your voice and can tell you apart from others. If you skip it, you can do it later in Settings.
Step 3. Recording
Tap "Start Transcribing" in the app to begin and "End Transcribing" when you are done. With the phone nearby, the text appears as people speak. Without the phone, Fieldy records into its own memory — up to three hours per conversation — and the recording is transcribed once it syncs with the phone. A summary is made when you tap "Summarize", and "Ask / Search" lets you ask questions about any conversation.
How to wear it
- Logo facing outwards — that side picks up speech best.
- Not under a thick coat or scarf: fabric muffles the microphone.
- According to Fieldy's users, it works even better on the wrist with the watch strap. Swapping is a twist: logo down, line up the dots, turn until it clicks.
Without your phone and on Android
If you leave the phone behind, Fieldy keeps up to three days of conversations and syncs them once the phone is within about nine metres and the app is open with internet. On Android, switch off battery optimisation for the app (Settings → Apps → Fieldy → Battery → Unrestricted), otherwise the phone closes it and conversations stop syncing.
If something goes wrong
- Will not turn on: charge with a different cable and socket, then hold the button for two seconds. Still nothing — hold it for ten seconds to restart the device.
- Keeps disconnecting: logo outwards, phone close by, the app allowed to run in the background. If it continues, forget Fieldy in the phone's Bluetooth settings and pair again from the app.
- Stopped recording by itself: when Fieldy records into its own memory without the phone, one conversation is capped at three hours — just start a new one. If it stopped earlier, check the battery in the app.
